The Athens' Food Tour with The Greek Kitchen is an ideal way to explore the city's market district with a local who has lived and worked in the area for many years.

Varvakious Central Agora was opened in the 1800's to give a central, sheltered place for traders to sell their wares to the citizens of Athens and it's still the best place in Greece to shop for produce; selling everything from octopus to lamb and oregano to ouzo with every single Greek ingredient in between.

Let our Greek Kitchen Host take you on a journey through the halls of the market building and the network of streets that surround it, where shops and stalls have traded for more than a century.

Open your senses and explore a world of flavour, scent, colour and charming chaos. Taste local ingredients, hear the ancient myths that accompany some of them and enjoy the sights at one of the few remaining un-gentrified food markets in a European capital city.

Moving beyond the central market the tour will move on to the fun neighbourhood of Psirri where bakers, leather merchants and textile shops sit side-by-side with bars, cafes and nightclubs. There will be a stop in the flea market to get some good photos and something refreshing to finish the tour.
