Meteora, where natural beauty and human faith have come together to create one of Greece's most stunning and spiritual destinations.

Millions of years ago nature forged the landscape creating the perfect place for people searching for a new life to settle and flourish in safety and isolation.

The tall peaks and caves of the rocks became the perfect refuge for those seeking spiritual enlightenment and a home closer to God, the evidence is there not just in the majestic monasteries that cap the pinnacle rocks and are tucked into the crevices around them but also in the far older hermit caves and priest cells that dot the landscape.

Still an important destination for followers of the Orthodox religion, Meteora is a desirable destination for many who come to marvel at the architecture and worship the idols in their chapels however the rich landscape and pristine nature are a huge draw for those seeking outdoor adventures, fresh air and peace and quiet.

As always we begin in Athens with a food tour and cooking class before heading out to Kalambaka on a scenic train journey. Our accommodation is in nearby Kastraki village and offers amazing views of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

All meals are included and as a Greek Kitchen Getaway not only are there plenty of cultural and physical pursuits there is plenty of food involved as well!

Greek Kitchen Getaways work with communities and small businesses. We have found ways to bring you into excellent local experiences making sure that revenue stays local and goes to the people it should.
