ALL ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE

Who are we?

Good question!

The Greek Kitchen was founded during Greece's infamous financial crisis by a plucky couple of good friends who realized that there was more to life that trying to get by in the corporate grind; that life should be more about doing what you love than just doing what you can to get by.

Most Greeks know how to cook well and hospitality is in the blood of the locals, so cooking classes were a natural step on the path to independence: It was a huge risk but times were challenging! Things couldn't get any worse!

It was worth it. While big business all but abandoned Greece, visitors still came from around the world to marvel at the ancient sites, relax on the beaches and brave the ferries to the islands. While here they spent their time in tavernas, bars and coffee houses enjoying the great food and amazing hospitality.

The Greek Kitchen worked and went from a team of two to the large family of colleagues we are today.

So, thank you to everyone who decided they wanted to come and make a meal with us, you changed a lot of people's lives and we will be forever grateful for that.

You've booked onto a class, what's next?

Congratulations! You have a place in a class and you are going to have a great time!

We have a few requests though, just to make your visit as good as it can possibly be.

  • Dress for the weather! While we experience all seasons here, the summer can be hot! Comfortable, closed-toed shoes, loose clothes and a hat for those 30 minutes out at the market will make it all the safer and keep the sun off your face

  • Sunscreen and a bottle of water will also take the edge off. It's not the Sahara but we don't want you getting tired, burned and thirsty

  • Let us know your dietary requirements (if you have any) in advance, the more time we have to get substitute ingredients the better and it won't see you missing out on anything. Your class cook will double check at the start of the experience just in case

  • Arrive around 10 minutes before your class is due to start, you can have a drink, drop off your bag, use the bathroom. We have wifi and air conditioning which helps: The market visit always leaves on time so if you aren't there then you'll miss it

  • Your class is a place you can make new friends! It happens all the time. While everything is hands-on, you will be cooking communally so roll up your sleeves and don't be afraid to chat to the other people at your table

  • We serve alcohol as well as soft drinks, but we do ask that you drink responsibly. It's forbidden to bring in your own alcohol and consume it. Anyone breaking this rule will be asked to leave and there won't be any refunds, just your red face

  • Be nice! People from all walks of life come to The Greek Kitchen and we don't discriminate so we don't want you to either. Leave your politics and any mean opinions somewhere else. Anyone behaving inappropriately towards other people in the class or any of our team will be asked to leave and there won't be any refunds, just shame

You can't make your class, what should you do?

The easiest thing to do is to let us know as soon as possible.
